Wild Cards Season 3 Starts Filming August 2025

-

Production is getting underway again for Wild Cards, the popular Canadian-American crime drama, which has officially locked in filming dates for its third season. After a successful second season, the CBC and The CW-backed series will return to production in Vancouver, British Columbia starting August 28, 2025, and continue through December 3, 2025.

The show features Vanessa Morgan as quick-thinking con artist Max Mitchell, and Giacomo Gianniotti as sharp but disgraced detective Cole Ellis. The duo’s unlikely partnership and growing chemistry have driven the series since its debut.

The upcoming shoot for Season 3 will once again take place in Vancouver, where the series has consistently filmed since its start. One of the most recognizable set pieces—the floating home of Cole Ellis—will be filmed on location in False Creek, a scenic inlet in the heart of Vancouver. The city’s distinct urban-meets-waterfront vibe continues to serve as a perfect visual match for the series’ tone.

Previous filming for Season 2 also took place in Vancouver between July 24 and October 27, 2023, with an additional day of shooting completed in Toronto, Ontario.

The show follows Cole Ellis, once a promising detective now reassigned to the city’s water patrol. His routine is disrupted when he’s asked to escort Max Mitchell to the police station. While waiting for booking, Max unexpectedly helps crack a major case involving the mayor’s inner circle. Impressed, the department gives them a joint chance at redemption: Cole may earn back his badge, and Max might avoid prison. But their path forward depends entirely on whether they can learn to work together.

At the end of Season 2, things took a dramatic turn. After confronting the man responsible for his brother Daniel’s death and uncovering Police Commissioner Russo’s dark ties, Cole is placed on leave pending investigation. With tensions rising, he invites Max on a houseboat trip, hoping to escape it all—at least for a while. But Max is tied up in a high-stakes scheme involving a $100 million fortune left behind by fellow con-man Ashford. Just as she’s ready to leave to join Cole, her estranged mother unexpectedly appears. When morning comes, Ellis departs without her.

The ensemble cast also features Terry Chen, Fletcher Donovan, and Jason Priestley, adding depth and layers to the story. Wild Cards is produced by Piller/Segan, Blink 49, Front Street Pictures, CBC, and The CW.

With Season 3 and Season 4 already confirmed, Wild Cards continues to build momentum. As cameras roll again later this August, fans can look forward to more twists, emotional turns, and the dynamic between Ellis and Max heating up once more.
