The film, which is yet to be titled, was shot over several weeks in British Columbia. Valerie has been keeping her fans updated since she began working on the project, offering glimpses into both her filming days and personal reflections.
She initially announced her involvement in the movie back on June 9, 2024, revealing how special the script was to her. “It’s an amazing script written by an amazing writer and the cast is beyond my wildest dreams,” she wrote. “It’s a beautiful role where I must break down all my barriers, shut out the outside noise and be openly vulnerable.”
Bertinelli shared how emotional the process had been for her, especially since this marks her return to single-camera production after more than four years. While she admitted feeling nervous, the quality of the script and the significance of the role helped her push through. “I know, in reality, this is just my process and I’ll be fine,” she said. “I’ve been doing this for over 50 years… but I just love this script so much and I wanna do it justice.”
Throughout her time in Vancouver, Bertinelli embraced the experience wholeheartedly. In a post from June 25, she shared how even the hour-long morning commute became a time of peace and preparation. “It’s a really nice time for reflection and meditation,” she wrote. “I study my lines for the scenes ahead in the day. I am for sure fatigued and exhausted from the hours, but it’s the exhaustion of a job well loved.”
The actress, who rose to fame as Barbara Cooper on the classic sitcom One Day at a Time (1975–1984), reflected on her continued passion for acting after more than five decades. “Even after 53 years, there’s still an excitement and clarity in it all,” she added. “The gratitude and camaraderie I feel to be working with so many talented and lovely artists… is something that just feels like home.”
With filming wrapped, Bertinelli is now headed home, carrying a heart full of gratitude and anticipation for her next steps. Fans can look forward to seeing her back on screen soon in this heartfelt Lifetime project.
