Trust is a psychological survival thriller set to hit select theaters on August 22, 2025. Carlson Young directed the movie, while Gigi Levangie wrote it. Sophie Turner plays the main character. She portrays a famous actress from Hollywood who runs away to a cottage in the woods following a controversy, but what should have been a peaceful getaway turns into a nightmare. Where Was Trust Filmed?

Mexico City, Mexico
Most of Trust was filmed in and around Mexico City. The city was the perfect setting for the movie’s mix of glamour, tension, and loneliness because it has a lot of history, beautiful buildings, and beautiful scenery. Several unusual and physically appealing settings were selected to illustrate the emotional shift in the movie—from luxury to survival.
Mansión Papilio is in the Coyoacán District.
One of the most eye-catching sites utilized in the film is Mansión Papilio, a stunning heritage mansion located in the Coyoacán region. This beautiful building has romantic architecture, exquisite interiors, and peaceful grounds. In the movie, it probably shows scenes from the actress’s past life, maybe in flashbacks or scenes that show how rich and famous she was before things went wrong.

El Laberinto del Ajusco—Ajusco Area

The movie also has scenes shot along Carretera Picacho – Ajusco, a beautiful mountain road in the Tlalpan district of southern Mexico City, which adds to the feeling of danger and escape. This meandering route runs through dense woodland and hilly terrain, giving the film a more raw, survivalist vibe.
The misty, isolated setting of this place is suitable for the plot, in which the actress’s trip away from stardom turns into a fight for her life.
Bixby Creek Bridge – Big Sur, California (USA)
Though most of the filming happened in Mexico, the movie also includes visuals of Bixby Creek Bridge in Big Sur, California. This well-known bridge, famous for its sweeping ocean views, appears in many films and shows. In Trust, it may have been used in travel scenes or to represent the beginning of the character’s escape.

Trust Behind the Scenes

Director Carlson Young described the movie as a “cat-and-mouse feature,” crafted to keep audiences constantly guessing who—or what—is real in that cabin setting. Over the chilly, misty mornings of early 2024, filming commenced as the crew set up camp in Mansión Papilio and El Laberinto del Ajusco to shoot the more atmospheric, eerie scenes of the film.
While driving along Carretera Picacho–Ajusco, Alejandro Martínez, the cinematographer, took advantage of the natural light filtering through the thick bushes, stating, “We wanted the road and trees to become characters in the story.” Martinez and Young collaborated, transforming fog, shadows, and the meandering roads into a portrayal of the protagonist’s solitude and intensifying paranoia.
