The Great Food Truck Race Season 18 Filming Locations

-

The 18th season of Food Network‘s popular reality show THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE is here, and it takes nine exciting food truck teams on a tough culinary journey along the Atlantic coast. The tough competition, hosted by Tyler Florence, asks competitors to make delicious street food while navigating busy cities, famous landmarks, and tough cooking tasks, all in the hopes of winning the $50,000 grand prize.

Premiering on August 3, 2025, on Food Network and streaming next day on Max, this season features some of the most unique and recognizable filming locations the series has ever visited.

WHERE WAS THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE SEASON 18 FILMED

The Great Food Truck Race Season 18 was filmed in early April 2025 across eight East Coast cities, including Savannah, Charleston, Darlington, Newport News, and Norfolk. The season features iconic locations like Grayson Stadium, Darlington Raceway, and Naval Station Norfolk.

Here’s a breakdown of the significance of each location:

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

Starting Line & Banana Challenge with the Savannah Bananas

The race starts in Savannah, Georgia, which is famous for its cute cobblestone streets and lively food scene. The teams meet at Grayson Stadium, the home of the Savannah Bananas, the famous baseball team that went viral, for a fun challenge with a banana theme. The Southern friendliness and food-loving people of the city make it a great place to start Season 18.

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

Historic Streets & No-Mercy Judging

Charleston is the next stop. The cooking competition takes place in the historic downtown area of Charleston, and famous chefs Kardea Brown and Rodney Scott are the judges. Charleston is known for its antebellum charm and Lowcountry food. It has a lot of history and flavor, which tests the teams’ creativity.

DARLINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

Speed & Sales at Darlington Raceway

There is a crazy turn in the race at Darlington Raceway, which is one of NASCAR’s oldest tracks. As they cook for racing stars like Mamba Smith and Todd Gilliland, these contestants have to quickly get through both prep and sales.

NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA

Secret Surveillance Challenge (April 7–8, 2025)

In this city on the coast of Virginia, the show adds a “secret surveillance” challenge that forces teams to change while judges in the background watch. Newport News, which is known for building ships and being close to military bases, adds to the tension and mystery as the race heats up.

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA

Grand Finale at Naval Station Norfolk

Naval Station Norfolk is the most important naval base in the world and where the season ends. The last two teams have a huge task ahead of them: they have to feed sailors who are hungry on a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. Millions of people need to be fed, and the big prize is at stake. It’s the show’s most exciting ending ever.

Throughout the season, the journey captures the essence of a true East Coast road trip. Each stop reflects not just geographical diversity but also regional culinary flair—from Southern comfort in Georgia to coastal Carolina seafood and military-inspired grit in Virginia.
