Owned by The Salvation Army, this 1,200-acre property has become a cornerstone for The Chosen’s ambitious set-building, serving as a replica of ancient Jerusalem and its surrounding areas. There is a full biblical village, a busy market, and even a 30,000-square-foot soundstage at—Camp Hoblitzelle that is used for controlled, detailed scenes.
This place was especially important for Season 5 because it’s where the scenes from The Last Supper were filmed using high-fidelity indoor sets. Its rolling hills, sun-drenched land and wide plains make the site perfect for large-scale outdoor scenes because they look like the climate and landscape of ancient Israel.
Aside from its physical features, the area also benefits from a strong sense of community. Extras from the surrounding areas often play townspeople, merchants, or disciples, giving the show more heart and authenticity.
GOSHEN, UTAH – LDS MOTION PICTURE STUDIO
Another key filming site for The Chosen Season 5 is Goshen, Utah, home to the LDS Motion Picture Studio—operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Located at 12800 Sand Hill Road, this sprawling set is built specifically to recreate the cities and countryside of biblical Israel. The Chosen has made use of this location since its early seasons, and Season 5 returned to it for a 26-day shoot.
