The Boys Season 5: Filming Wraps, Release Date, and What to Expect

-

It’s official—The Boys Season 5 has wrapped up filming, marking the end of one of Prime Video’s most talked-about shows. Fans who’ve followed the journey since the beginning now have something big to look forward to. The final season promises a powerful conclusion, though you’ll need to be patient before it hits your screen. At NetFilming, we’ve gathered everything you need to know about the filming update, cast reactions, and what’s next.

Filming Completed in June 2025

The production for Season 5 wrapped up in late June 2025. Actor Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, hinted earlier that his scenes were done. Not long after, photos from the official wrap party surfaced online. Isabella Crovetti shared images from the event, held on June 21, featuring her and her brother, Cameron Crovetti. Those photos confirmed that filming was officially complete.

But even though the cameras have stopped rolling, the season is far from ready to stream. The Boys is a visually heavy series with complex special effects, detailed editing, and intense post-production work. Based on the usual timeline for previous seasons, viewers can expect a release sometime in 2026—likely during spring or early summer.

Eric Kripke Bids Farewell

Series creator Eric Kripke took to Instagram on July 1 to confirm the end of filming and shared a touching message with fans and crew. In his post, he stood inside the iconic Vought Tower set, which is now being dismantled.

“This is the last time I’ll ever be on this set,” Kripke wrote. “It’ll be torn down soon. It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude.”

He went on to thank the team, calling it “the best cast, the best crew,” and acknowledged how lucky they were to have everything come together perfectly. He ended the post with a heartfelt note to the audience: “To the fans: thanks for watching, can’t wait for you to see the grand finale. That’s a wrap.”

Cast Reactions Pour In

Kripke’s farewell sparked emotional replies from several cast members. Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie, wrote, “Love you dude. Thank you for literally everything.”
Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight, commented, “Love you. Thank you. x 1000.”

Laz Alonso used his character’s name in a clever way, saying, “What a ride Krip! I can finally say I experienced lightning in a bottle! ⚡.”
Antony Starr, the face of Homelander, simply left heart emojis.
Jessie T. Usher, aka A-Train, and Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir) also left heartfelt replies filled with gratitude and emotion.

It’s clear the show’s cast sees this final chapter as more than just an ending—it’s a celebration of a creative journey that brought them all together.

The Boys Season 5 Confirmed as the Final Chapter

Kripke had already confirmed last year, during the Season 4 premiere in 2024, that Season 5 would be the end of the road. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he joked about getting final approval from the fictional Vought International before making the announcement.

He wrote: “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax.”

The show, based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has always taken a bold approach—mocking politics, media, and celebrity culture through the lens of corrupted superheroes. Fans can expect more of that sharp commentary in the final season, which may even touch on real-life events like the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Who’s Returning for The Boys Season 5?

The core cast is all expected to return. That includes:

  • Karl Urban (Billy Butcher)

  • Jack Quaid (Hughie)

  • Erin Moriarty (Starlight)

  • Antony Starr (Homelander)

  • Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk)

  • Jessie T. Usher (A-Train)

  • Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir)

  • Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko)

  • Chace Crawford (The Deep)

  • Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy)

  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whose role is still being kept under wraps

With such a loaded cast and plenty of loose ends to tie up, The Boys Season 5 is expected to deliver a truly explosive and emotional send-off.

The Boys Season 5 Release Date

Even though filming is finished, the official release date hasn’t been announced yet. Based on previous production timelines and the extensive VFX work required, most sources—including crew updates—suggest a 2026 release. A spring or summer premiere on Prime Video is likely.

Until then, fans can catch up on the first four seasons and spin-offs like Gen V. Stay tuned to NetFilming for the latest updates on The Boys Season 5 and everything else happening in the world of film and TV.
