The Best Is Yet To Come: Filming Begins In Vancouver

-

This summer, Vancouver is getting ready for another big movie shoot: THE BEST IS YET TO COME starts filming in August and runs through September 2025. A lot of people love Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck — who played unforgettable parts in the 1986 classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. They will be working together on a new comedy.

This new project is set to reignite the duo’s on-screen chemistry almost four decades after they first made audiences laugh as Ferris and Cameron. The film, backed by MRC Film and with Lionsgate in distribution talks, is being directed by Jon Turteltaub, known for helming crowd-pleasers like National Treasure and While You Were Sleeping.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME is based on the 2019 French film Le Meilleur Reste à Venir, which starred Fabrice Luchini and Patrick Bruel. That original movie was directed by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte, and its emotional core has been adapted for an English-speaking audience by screenwriter Allan Loeb (The Switch, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps).

The plot follows two longtime friends who are pushed into action after a life-changing misunderstanding. Realizing time may be shorter than they thought, they take off on a spontaneous bucket-list road trip. Along the way, they attempt to repair their family bonds and appreciate the time they have left — with lots of laughs and heartfelt moments along the way.

Amy Baer is on board as a producer, while Dimitri Rassam serves as executive producer, bringing additional international experience to the table.

Both Broderick and Ruck have continued to thrive since their Ferris Bueller days. Broderick has had a strong presence in film and on stage, while Ruck recently earned praise for his role as Connor Roy in HBO’s Succession. This new film gives the actors a chance to showcase their comedic timing and emotional range in a story that blends humor with heart.

As filming kicks off in Vancouver, locals and fans alike are eager to catch a glimpse of the stars and see how the Pacific Northwest landscape will frame this emotional comedy.
