QUIET STORM, a new psychological thriller starring Vanessa Hudgens and directed by Anthony Thorne, who is directing it for the first time, has officially finished filming. From June 2, 2025, to June 30, 2025, cameras were rolling in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the set of the movie.
Hudgens confirmed the news on Instagram by writing an emotional post about how hard it was for her to make the movie. “Really worked my ass off in this one,” she said, alongside a photo of herself on set. She added, “Filled with every single emotion and enough tears to fill a pool.”
WHAT IS QUIET STORM ABOUT?
Set during the summer of 1969, Quiet Storm follows a once-famous novelist—played by Vanessa Hudgens—who becomes trapped in a house with her estranged husband and several roommates as Hurricane Camille, one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history, barrels toward the Gulf Coast.
Beyond the tension of survival, the film weaves in the era’s social shifts, touching on themes like Women’s Liberation and the Black Panther movement.
QUIET STORM FILMING LOCATIONS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
Langley, a city in Metro Vancouver, was the main setting for Quiet Storm. The main setting was a farmhouse in Langley, which stood in for the storm-damaged Southern home where the characters go to find safety.
Langley is known for its beautiful rural landscapes, which are often used in movies and TV shows to make them look like scenes from the American countryside. The farmhouse—set gave the storyline a setting that was both isolated and true to the time period (1969).
Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam, which is another popular place for movies to be shot in the Vancouver area—was used for more scenes. Riverview’s old buildings and wooded areas make it a great place for both atmospheric thrillers and period pieces.
The mix of Langley and Coquitlam locations gave the production team a wide visual range—from remote farmland to eerie institutional interiors.
