Where Was Prime Video’s Countdown Filmed? All Filming Locations Explored

-

COUNTDOWN is an American crime drama with a lot at stake. It was created by Derek Haas, who is best known for his work on Chicago Fire.

Jensen Ackles plays LAPD detective Mark Meachum in the show. After the shocking public murder of a Department of Homeland Security officer, Meachum joins a secret task force with agents from other agencies to find out what really happened. The team finds a deep plot that could threaten millions of lives as the investigation gets stronger.

Also in the cast are Violett Beane as Evan Shepherd, Eric Dane as Nathan Blythe, and Jessica Camacho as Amber Oliveras.

The first episode of the show aired on Amazon Prime Video on June 25, 2025. Countdown stands out because of its realistic and visually appealing film locations as well as its gripping plot and performances. Take a look at where the show was filmed.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

A major portion of Countdown was filmed in Los Angeles, the same city where the storyline is set. Los Angeles is known as the entertainment capital of the world. Its busy neighborhoods, famous skylines, and city streets make it a huge and varied background. Some well-known places were used to film outdoor scenes. One of these was Wilshire Boulevard, where crews filmed near India’s Tandoori, an Indian restaurant at 5468 Wilshire Blvd.

Jensen Ackles shared a behind-the-scenes look at the set on Instagram, posting, “ We are well on our way here and having a blast. That’s what it’s all about!

CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA

Culver City, located in western Los Angeles County, served as another significant filming site for Countdown. This historic city has been a central location for film and television since the early days of Hollywood. It’s home to Sony Pictures Entertainment, and its blend of old-Hollywood charm with modern infrastructure makes it ideal for contemporary TV productions.

Because it is close to Los Angeles and has similar cityscapes—Culver City was a good place to film scenes that needed to look like they were set in Los Angeles. Notably, shows like Side Quest were filmed here, which shows how popular the city is with moviemakers.

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Parts of Countdown were also shot in Budapest, Hungary, even though most of the movie was shot in California. Scenes were filmed in District VII—which is on the Pest side of the Danube. The historic Jewish Quarter and lively architecture in the area made for a beautiful and moody background for the show.

Kürt Street was one of the known filming locations. It was a cute place that helped give some international plot points more depth. With landmarks like Buda Castle, Heroes’ Square, and Liberty Bridge, Budapest’s inclusion in the filming lineup elevated the show’s visual storytelling and authenticity.

SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA

Santa Clarita, which is in the northwest of L.A. County, is famous for being a great place for movies and having beautiful scenery. Melody Ranch, Sable Ranch, and Golden Oak Ranch are some of the most well-known filming ranches in the area. They are often used for both Westerns and action movies.

The production team utilized parts of Santa Clarita for more expansive outdoor shots. Visitors to the city can explore locations like Six Flags Magic Mountain, Bridgeport Marketplace Lake, and William S. Hart Museum, which give a glimpse of the landscape captured in the series.
