Poker Face Season 2 Filming Locations Revealed!

-

Poker Face is back with Season 2, continuing its gripping mix of crime, mystery and dark humor. Created by Rian Johnson and led by Natasha Lyonne as the clever lie-detector Charlie Cale, the series has captured the interest of audiences with its unique “case-of-the-week” format. After a successful first season, the show was renewed and is set to return on May 8, 2025, on Peacock.

While the storyline takes viewers all over the United States, most of the filming for Season 2 happened in New York State, with a few notable scenes filmed in Nevada. Despite the cross-country premise, the production team did a great job using New York’s diverse landscapes to mimic various parts of the U.S.

What is Poker Face Season 2 About?

Poker Face Season 2 continues the story of Charlie Cale, a woman who has an extraordinary ability—she can tell when someone is lying. After spending Season 1 on the run and solving random murders she stumbled upon, Charlie is back on the road, but things have gotten even more intense.

In Season 2, Charlie goes to different towns all around the country to keep ahead of the powerful people who are still looking for her. As she progresses, she uncovers new mysteries and bizarre deaths that no one else can decipher. Every episode has a different case, new people, and a new problem that Charlie has to solve using her quick instincts and special ability to tell when someone is lying.

The season has a positive mix of funny, sad, and suspenseful moments, as well as smart mystery-solving. Charlie’s quest gets more risky as the stakes rise, keeping viewers interested until the very end.

Where was ‘Poker Face Season 2’ filmed?

Poker Face Season 2 was mainly filmed across various locations in New York State—including the Hudson Valley, Westchester (Irvington, Pomona), Staten Island, New Rochelle—and featured studio work upstate. Exterior scenes for the “Frost Casino” were shot at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, Nevada. Here’s a full breakdown of all the main filming locations used in Poker Face Season 2.

Hudson Valley, New York

The Hudson Valley served as a major filming area, offering everything from quiet towns to busy streets and rural landscapes. This region’s flexibility helped it double for multiple different U.S. states throughout the season.

Key Filming Spots in Hudson Valley:

  • Middletown: Several episodes were shot using the town’s streets and local businesses.
  • Cornwall: Featured in scenes where Charlie digs into mysterious small-town incidents.
  • Orange County Fair Speedway: Used in episodes involving racing and large outdoor gatherings.
  • The Castle Fun Center (Chester, NY): A family fun park that provided the setting for one of Charlie’s investigations.

This region helped the show create believable and varied environments without having to leave New York.

Westchester County, New York

One of the most iconic spots used in filming is the Armour-Stiner Octagon House in Irvington, Westchester County. This eye-catching octagonal home is known for its unique shape and fully domed top. It’s the only house of its kind in the U.S., possibly even in the world. The visually distinct property made it a standout backdrop in one of the show’s central episodes.

Pomona, New York—Clover Stadium

Another highlight is Clover Stadium, located in Pomona. This minor-league baseball park is the home field for the New York Boulders, a team in the Frontier League. It was used in a sports-themed episode that centers around a murder mystery connected to a local game.

The stadium opened in 2011 and was formerly known as Provident Bank Park and Palisades Credit Union Park. It was renamed Clover Stadium in 2022 after a sponsorship deal with Fiserv, Inc., the makers of the Clover point-of-sale system.

Staten Island, New York City

A vacant ShopRite in New Dorp, Staten Island, was transformed into a fully designed set for one of the season’s more intense episodes. Filming took place there in July 2024. The supermarket was dressed to resemble a functioning store and served as a central location in the storyline.

Staten Island, while less populated compared to other NYC boroughs, has a wide variety of architectural and commercial areas. Its mix of space and accessibility made it a practical choice for filming.

New Rochelle, New York

The series also filmed some street and business scenes in New Rochelle, another city in Westchester County. Known as the “Queen City of the Sound,” it’s located just north of Manhattan. Its suburban setting with city-like features gave the series more flexibility for scenes that required a blend of urban and small-town vibes.

Upstate New York—Studio Filming

While the Frost Casino in the show is said to be in Nevada, the interior scenes were filmed in studio sets built in upstate New York. The production team created detailed casino interiors to match the real-life Riverside Resort in Nevada, allowing for easier scheduling and weather control.

These sets were used for major parts of the plot and were built with precision to make them indistinguishable from a real casino.

Laughlin, Nevada—Riverside Resort

While most filming took place in New York, the team made a trip to Laughlin, Nevada, to capture the exterior shots of the Frost Casino. They used the Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino to depict the outside view of this key location in the storyline.

The sunny, desert backdrop of Laughlin added authenticity to scenes set in the Southwest and helped break up the Northeast-heavy visuals of the season.

When Was Poker Face Season 2 Filmed?

Filming for Poker Face Season 2 officially started on July 1, 2024, and wrapped up in late December 2024. The production timeline covered both summer and fall seasons, giving the episodes a diverse visual tone. This filming schedule allowed the team to take advantage of seasonal changes in foliage and weather to make each episode stand out.

Most episodes followed a production structure of shooting for around 10 days per episode—about three days on studio sets and seven on location.

Poker Face Season 2 Behind the Scenes

Filming for Poker Face Season 2 began in July 2024 and wrapped up by the end of December 2024. The team worked across multiple cities in New York State, building on the success of the show’s first season. The creative team stayed true to the “case-of-the-week” style while expanding the visual variety of the series with new, vibrant locations like Clover Stadium in Pomona and The Octagon House in Irvington.

In an interview, show creator Rian Johnson said, “We’re having so much fun crafting these self-contained mysteries that still build into a bigger story. Natasha Lyonne brings something special to Charlie—she’s smart, she’s funny, and she makes every episode feel fresh.”

Lead actress Natasha Lyonne also shared her thoughts during production, saying, “Season 2 dives deeper into Charlie’s headspace. She’s seen more, she’s tired, but she’s still got that fight in her. The new locations bring a whole different energy.

The crew used a mix of practical locations and custom-built sets to keep the series visually rich. Interior scenes of the fictional Frost Casino, for example, were filmed on detailed sets in upstate New York, while its exterior was shot at Riverside Resort in Nevada. These smart production choices helped keep the show flexible and fresh without compromising on quality.
