Off The Grid (2025) Filming Locations

-

Off the Grid is an action movie that will come out on June 27 and be directed by Johnny Martin. The high-stakes thriller stars Josh Duhamel as Guy, a scientist who goes into hiding after stealing an experiment that he thinks could be used to make a powerful weapon. Ranish, played by Greg Kinnear, his old partner, is supposed to find both him and the secret invention. Ranish follows the trail through remote parts of Europe and the US with the help of a group of hired killers.

The supporting cast includes Peter Stormare as the villainous Belcor, a corporate mastermind pulling the strings. María Elisa Camargo plays Josey, while Michael Papajohn features as Sheriff, David Lipper as Eddie, Michael Zapesotsky as Chase, and Asseraf and Russert take on roles as mercenaries Mia and Marcus, respectively.

WHERE WAS OFF THE GRID FILMED?

Filming for Off the Grid began sometime in 2023. Although exact production dates haven’t been disclosed, it’s known that the film entered post-production by mid-2024. The production made use of a blend of urban and rustic locales that align with the film’s theme of hiding and hunting across off-the-grid terrains.

Let’s take a look at the key filming locations that brought the action-packed world of Off the Grid to life.

CLINTON, MISSISSIPPI

Clinton, Mississippi was one of the main places where Off the Grid was filmed. Clinton, which is just west of Jackson, the state capital, is a small town with beautiful scenery that is perfect for showing hidden or less well-known places to hide. Filmmakers used local churches, wooded areas, and backroads to create the impression of a remote environment where Duhamel’s character could lay low.

A glimpse of Clinton’s architecture and peaceful surroundings can be seen in the trailer, which opens with a dramatic church sequence — believed to be shot at one of Clinton’s historic churches.

ROME, ITALY

Scenes from around the world were shot in Rome, Italy, giving the movie a European feel. The winding streets, historic buildings, and moody cityscapes of Rome make for dramatic settings for scenes of high-stakes chases and global espionage. The scenes in Rome probably show the beginning of the chase as Duhamel’s character runs away with the dangerous experiment.

Norfolk, England – Walsingham Abbey Grounds

Off the Grid (2025) Norfolk, England – Walsingham Abbey Grounds

A visually stunning scene from the trailer was shot at the Walsingham Abbey Grounds and Priory ruins in Little Walsingham, Norfolk, England. This historic site dates back to the Middle Ages and was once a major place where people came to make pilgrimages. The gothic ruins of the abbey, with their arched windows and stone structure, can be seen in the trailer. (Not Confirmed)

You can connect to this pilgrimage route at nearby—Blakeney Harbour—which used to be the busiest port on the Norfolk coast and St. Margaret’s Church in Cley-next-the-Sea. These places may have been used for filming. These ancient sites give the film a raw and remote atmosphere fitting for a character “off the grid.”

San Francisco, California, USA

Off the Grid (2025)

A famous aerial shot of San Francisco’s skyline can be seen in the trailer for Off the Grid, but it hasn’t been officially confirmed as a filming location. The view is very broad and includes famous landmarks like the Salesforce Tower, the Transamerica Pyramid, and the tall buildings in downtown San Francisco.

On social media, the cast has mostly been quiet about filming—but some behind-the-scenes looks and photos from the set have been shared. Fans can get an idea of how rough and remote the settings are from an Instagram post that shows one of the filming days. This post also shows how the movie uses real-world terrain instead of soundstage environments.
