The upcoming British romantic comedy TOO MUCH on Netflix is getting a lot of attention, and not only because of the talented creator and cast. The show also features some very picturesque locations.
The 10-episode show was made by Lena Dunham and her husband Luis Felber, and it will air for the first time on July 10, 2025. Starring Megan Stalter as Jessica and Will Sharpe as Felix, the story unfolds across two continents—giving viewers a sweeping backdrop of both the UK and US.
In TOO MUCH, Jessica is a thirty-something New Yorker escaping heartbreak and emotional chaos by taking a job in London, hoping to live in solitude. But her plan is turned upside down when she meets Felix, a charming but unfiltered Brit. The cast also includes Emily Ratajkowski as Polly, Adwoa Aboah as Raven, Naomi Watts, Aylin Tezel, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Rita Wilson, and Prasanna Puwanarajah.
Now let’s explore the real-world filming locations that brought this international love story to life.
WHERE WAS NETFLIX’S “TOO MUCH” FILMED?
TOO MUCH was filmed all through 2024. Filming began in February 2024 in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. Later, important scenes were filmed in London in the spring and summer. In June 2024, more filming took place in Brooklyn, New York. While Netflix has not officially announced the exact wrap date, filming is believed to have wrapped by late summer 2024.
BEACONSFIELD, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
One of the first filming locations for TOO MUCH was the village of Forty Green in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, in February 2024. The production brought a touch of Hollywood to this quiet English countryside setting. Locals spotted actor Andrew Scott filming scenes there, sparking plenty of excitement.
A key filming spot was The Royal Standard of England, one of the oldest pubs in the UK. Scenes shot here echo the cozy pub vibe seen in classic rom-coms like Notting Hill. According to Matthew O’Keeffe, who runs the pub, the team was recreating a romantic pub scene that reflects cultural miscommunication between Americans and Brits.
O’Keeffe explained, “They were filming a romcom like the Notting Hill pub scene… We share the same language but we hear another meaning.” He also noted that the pub’s frequent appearance in films has made it a popular tourist destination for location-spotters and even featured in Channel 5’s Finders Keepers.
LONDON, ENGLAND
London plays a big role in TOO MUCH, which makes sense since it’s where the story takes place. The film features a number of well-known landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch, Tower Bridge, and The London Eye, among others. These famous spots give a romantic and beautiful view of the British capital and they also represent Jessica’s journey of rediscovery as she gets used to her new life away from New York.
Everyday scenes of Jessica’s life were also shown in more private and urban settings. Scenes were shot in places like Warner Place’s Sheppard House and the popular pub The Ivy House, which is known for having a traditional feel. These real-life scenes give the emotional story of the show a believable cityscape that shows both the glamorous and everyday sides of life in London.
Creator Lena Dunham, speaking to Tudum, about the experience, said: “When I first started coming to the UK for work … I thought to myself, ‘I want to write something about the experience of being a foreigner here, and the fantasies we have of [London] versus the realities.’”
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

Before her big move to London, Jessica’s life in New York City is captured in scenes shot in Brooklyn in June 2024. Actress Emily Ratajkowski was seen on set sporting a surprising look—a chin-length dark brown wig and bright yellow sunglasses. Fans spotted her filming near Broadway and Canal Street in SoHo, and relaxing on a bench, all while channeling a very different style than her usual glamorous look.
Filming also featured the Manhattan Bridge, showcasing the stunning city skyline and providing the perfect contrast to London’s historic architecture. These scenes emphasize Jessica’s emotional disconnect from her New York past as she prepares for a new beginning abroad.
