La Palma, Canary Islands

The main island of the chain is La Palma, also known as “La Isla Bonita” or “The Beautiful Island.” Its lush forests, volcanic landscapes and charming towns make a great setting for the story. Filming took place in the volcanic areas, along the coast, and on the charming streets of Santa Cruz de La Palma.

Speaking about the choice of location, director Kasper Barfoed said that, “La Palma’s natural beauty and volcanic history made it the ideal setting for a story like this. Filming here added an authentic layer to the narrative, making the disaster feel real and immediate.”

Tenerife, Canary Islands

Tenerife, another island in the Canary Islands, was used to film some of the dramatic scenes. As a contrast, its beautiful volcanic landscapes, such as Mount Teide and Teide National Park, stood out. The rough terrain and lava formations added to the series’ sense of tension and danger.

“Filming in Tenerife was essential for capturing the immense scale and danger of the volcanic eruption. It truly feels like a character in the story itself,” the production team said.
