Arnold Schwarzenegger is back and more explosive than ever in FUBAR SEASON 2, the high-octane action-comedy series from Netflix. Created by Nick Santora (Reacher, Prison Break), FUBAR continues the wild story of Luke Brunner, a CIA operative nearing retirement who is dragged back into the field when he learns his daughter Emma, played by Monica Barbaro, is also a secret agent. As fans get ready for the start of Season 2 on June 12, many are interested in where the epic background was filmed. Where did FUBAR get filmed? We’ll start with Season 1 and then move on to the new global locations used in Season 2.
WHERE WAS FUBAR SEASON 1 FILMED?
The first season of FUBAR was filmed extensively in Ontario, Canada, taking advantage of the province’s versatility to stand in for multiple countries and U.S. cities. Here are the key filming locations:
TORONTO, ONTARIO
Toronto served as a primary hub for Season 1. Its downtown and industrial districts were transformed into various international destinations.
Black Creek Pioneer Village – A historical site turned secret mission base.
Cathedral Bluffs Yacht Club – Used for several exterior shots near the water.
Enercare Centre – Featured in scenes set at a government facility.
Grace O’Malley’s (Duncan St) – A local pub that served as a social backdrop.
Toronto’s film-friendly infrastructure, experienced crews, and studio space made it ideal for action-packed sequences.
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO
Not far from Toronto, the Sherwood Village (formerly Sheridan Centre) mall in Mississauga was transformed into the CIA’s call center and a hospital parking garage.
Mississauga’s modern look and convenient location made it perfect for indoor and exterior shots involving the agency.
OAKVILLE, ONTARIO
In Downtown Oakville, fans may recognize Colossus Greek Taverna from Episode 2, where Emma (Monica Barbaro) and Carter (Jay Baruchel) enjoy a quiet coffee. The area’s waterfront charm brought a relaxed vibe amidst the show’s chaos.
WHERE WAS FUBAR SEASON 2 FILMED?
With Season 2 promising to be “bigger and better,” according to Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, the production team expanded beyond Ontario. This season spans Canada and Europe, offering new global locations and action set-pieces.
FANSHAWE CONSERVATION AREA, LONDON, ONTARIO, CANADA
One of the most prominent filming sites for Season 2 is the Fanshawe Conservation Area, located near London, Ontario. This peaceful natural preserve, known for its reservoir and dam, was transformed into a battle zone for some of the season’s most high-octane sequences.
According to staff at the site, a “battle” scene was filmed directly at the Fanshawe Dam, incorporating action elements like a tanker truck and a helicopter. The show’s production team visited the site multiple times in preparation, mapping out stunt logistics and safety plans. Park operations continued throughout, but filming brought noticeable excitement to the area, including helicopters flying above Fanshawe Lake and film crews working from boats and dockside platforms.
Although Arnold Schwarzenegger and other stars weren’t directly spotted by the conservation staff, the crew interacted heavily with them, sparking conversations about the dam’s history and water management — a surprising educational twist to a spy series shoot.
ELORA, ONTARIO, CANADA
Another unique Canadian location used in Season 2 was the town of Elora, known for its charming architecture and scenic streets. Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted filming in downtown Elora around Hoffer Park and Geddes Street, though production signs referred to the shoot as “Oink” to avoid attention.
The Centre Wellington Township Office was transformed into a “Heritage Museum and Cultural Center”, complete with American flags and New York license plates to replicate a U.S. setting.
Filming in Elora took place around April 30 to May 1, and locals were excited to catch glimpses of Schwarzenegger on set.
HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA
Another Canadian filming site used for FUBAR Season 2 was Hamilton, Ontario. Known for its mix of industrial spaces, heritage buildings, and accessible locations, Hamilton has become a popular shooting destination for Netflix productions.
Though fewer details have been released about specific filming spots in Hamilton, the city likely served as a flexible urban setting to depict various international locations on screen. Its ability to double for major cities around the world made it a smart and efficient filming choice for the fast-paced series.
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
Later in the production schedule, FUBAR made its way to Europe, where scenes were filmed in the historic city center of Prague in September 2024. Known for its cobblestone streets, Gothic architecture, and rich cultural history, Prague lends itself beautifully to international intrigue and espionage storytelling.
Filming took place near Old Town Square, one of the city’s most iconic tourist areas. Production vehicles and crew were spotted around major streets including Dušní, Bílkova, Haštalská, Široká, and Pařížská. Additional shoots occurred in the vicinity of Obecní Dům and Těšnov, around Revoluční and Petrská streets.
Given Carrie-Anne Moss’s character Greta Nelso’s background as a former East German spy, the historical ambiance of Prague likely plays into her storyline, perhaps representing Eastern Europe during the Cold War. This makes Prague not only a stunning backdrop but also a potential plot device in the narrative.
Local production support in Prague was provided by Stillking Films, a company experienced in handling international TV productions.
WHEN WAS FUBAR SEASON 2 FILMED?
FUBAR Season 2 began filming in April 2024. The production was active through the summer months, with major scenes shot in Canada—specifically at Fanshawe Conservation Area near London, Ontario, and in Hamilton, Ontario.
In September 2024, filming moved to Prague, Czech Republic, for additional scenes in the city’s historic center. This timeline shows that filming took place between May and September 2024, spanning both North American and European locations to bring the action-comedy series to life for its second season.
Creator Nick Santora describes Season 2 as “bananas” and full of “fun surprises for FUBAR fans.” Schwarzenegger, never shy to hype up a project, says, “It is bigger, it is better… and there’s more of everything.”
The production even set a Guinness World Record by unveiling the world’s largest action figure — a 22.14-foot Luke Brunner — during the announcement of Season 2. “Next season’s action figure will be twice as big,” Schwarzenegger joked during the reveal.
About filming with the returning cast, Schwarzenegger added, “My team from Season 1 became even more of a family.” This camaraderie extends off-screen, making the filming process across different countries even more rewarding.
