Almost Cops, originally titled Bad Boa’s, is a 2025 Dutch action-comedy that brings together thrilling chases, heartfelt drama, and sharp humor. The movie, directed by Gonzalo Fernandez Carmona, is about two police officers who don’t get along: Ramon (Jandino Asporaat), a tense special investigator, and Jack (Werner Kolf), a rough ex-cop with a troubled past. 1. Nieuwe Maas River
The film heavily features the Nieuwe Maas River, which flows through the heart of Rotterdam. The shots of the river add depth to the movie’s look. Scenes with police chases and tense conversations happen along the banks. The river, which is an extension of the Rhine—makes a striking background and represents—both movement and mystery in the story.
2. De Zalmhaven (Zalmhaventoren)
De Zalmhaven, also called the Zalmhaventoren, is one of the most beautiful places that was used. There is no doubt that this 215-meter skyscraper is the tallest building in the Netherlands and the world. The sleek, modern building was used for both inside and outside shots—giving the movie a polished, urban look.
3. Erasmusbrug (Erasmus Bridge)
The Erasmusbrug, or Erasmus Bridge—is another famous place where films have been shot. One of the most famous buildings in Rotterdam is this 139-meter-high cable-stayed bridge—which is also known as “The Swan” because of its unusual shape. It made for a dramatic setting for a few high-stakes scenes with characters arguing and cars being chased.
4. Euromast
The Euromast, which is at Parkhaven 20, is a popular Rotterdam observation tower that gives you a wide view of the city. This building was used for many scenes, making the most of its height and shape. The landmark gave the action scenes more depth and was a metaphor for a lookout point in the story.
5. The Witte Huis (White House)
Lastly, the movie shows The Witte Huis, also known as the White House—which is at Geldersekade 1C. This building in the Art Nouveau style is a National Heritage Site and is known as one of the first skyscrapers in Europe. It gave the modern setting a historical contrast, which made the movie more visually interesting.
6. Katendrecht
Another key location featured in Almost Cops is Katendrecht, a historic harbor district in Rotterdam. Once known as a red-light and sailor’s quarter, Katendrecht has transformed into a trendy area filled with restaurants, art venues, and modern apartments. This mix of old and new fits the film’s themes of contrast—law and chaos, tradition and change.
Scenes involving police patrols and surveillance were shot here, including around the Fenix Food Factory and nearby docks.
7. Willemsbrug (Willems Bridge)
The bright red Willemsbrug also makes a striking appearance in the film. This bridge connects the northern and southern parts of Rotterdam and is seen during intense chase scenes and nighttime confrontations. Its bold design adds to the gritty urban feel of the story and enhances the fast-paced tone of the movie.
