Gen V Season 2 Filming Locations: Toronto & UTM’s Godolkin University Revealed

-

Gen V, the hit spinoff of The Boys set in college, is back with its second season, which fans have been waiting for. The story is once again about young superhumans trying to figure out how to live at Godolkin University while balancing their powers, ambitions, and the complicated politics between humans and superheroes.

This season starts right after the events of Gen V Season 1 and The Boys Season 4. Marie Moreau, Jordan Li, and Emma Meyer are back on campus, but with new leaders. Dean Cypher (Hamish Linklater), a new person, is in charge and wants to make the students stronger than ever. But it looks like his plans are more about making a super-powered army to support Homelander, who is now a powerful and feared figure.

The season also deals with Andre Anderson’s emotional absence after the death of actor Chance Perdomo in real life. The role will not be recast, keeping his legacy intact within the story. A growing tension between humans and Supes serves as one of the major themes, pushing characters to decide what kind of heroes — or threats — they want to become.

NetFilming takes a closer look at where Season 2 was filmed and the real-world locations that bring Godolkin University and its surroundings to life.

Where Was Gen V Season 2 Filmed?

Season 2 was filmed extensively in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario, Canada. Much of the action returns to the University of Toronto Mississauga campus, the show’s long-standing stand-in for Godolkin University. Production also included street sequences in Toronto, notably along St. Clair Avenue West, alongside other GTA spots.

The heart of Gen V is Godolkin University, and the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus in Mississauga, Ontario.

Godolkin University is the heart of Gen V, and the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus in Mississauga, Ontario, is its real-life counterpart. Filming notices and set videos for Season 2 showed that the crew came back to this modern campus, just like they did for Season 1. The Maanjiwe nendamowinan building is an important place because it is also Godolkin’s School of Crimefighting. Its sleek design makes it stand out. The open spaces and modern buildings at UTM make it the perfect place for a superhero college.

Fun fact: Mississauga is a popular place for high-profile TV shoots. It has hosted shows like The Umbrella Academy, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Orphan Black.

Beyond UTM, the Greater Toronto Area provided a variety of settings for Gen V Season 2.

Greater Toronto Area – Ontario, Canada

The Greater Toronto Area had many different places for Gen V Season 2 to film, not just UTM. Toronto’s mix of city streets, suburban neighbourhoods, and parks makes it a great place to showcase the made-up New York setting of the show. Reports from the industry confirmed that filming took place all over the GTA, from the outside of campuses to scenes in the city. Toronto is a great place for productions like Gen V because it has a lot of different landscapes and infrastructure that make filming easy.

Fun fact: The GTA is one of North America’s busiest places to film. Suicide Squad, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and Shazam are among the films that have taken place there.

For urban scenes, the Gen V team filmed on St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto.

St. Clair Avenue West – Toronto, Ontario

For urban scenes, the Gen V team filmed on St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto. Local updates during the shoot window flagged this street as a key location for Season 2. Its bustling vibe and mix of storefronts and residential areas make it a great fit for scenes outside Godolkin University, adding a gritty, real-world feel to the show.

Trivia: This Toronto district has also been featured in productions like Titans, Star Trek: Discovery, and American Gods.

Gen V Season 2 Behind The Scenes

As we get closer to the premiere, I’ve been digging into what went on behind the cameras for Gen V Season 2. The cast and crew opened up at events like San Diego Comic-Con 2025, sharing stories about wild stunts, emotional moments, and how they honored Chance Perdomo.

Showrunner Michele Fazekas explained the big changes, saying, “Since Gen V and The Boys constantly ‘talk to each other,’ that means fans of Gen V will get to see how the country and the university have changed now that Antony Starr’s Homelander has ‘taken over America.'”

She teased cameos and resistance themes, adding, “There will be some important cameos [and] answers to that.” Fazekas also highlighted character growth: “There’s gonna be a lot of different types of leveling up. So, some people are going to level up their superpowers, and some people are going to emotionally level up, or figure out something new about themselves and lose control.”

Jaz Sinclair, who plays Marie Moreau, shared her excitement about working with Erin Moriarty from The Boys: “It was so fun working with Erin, she’s awesome. I loved it. We had a lot of fun together.” She described Marie’s mindset: “Marie doesn’t know Starlight beyond what she’s seen [in the media], and Marie’s kind of in a bad situation… and then Starlight shows up and then offers her this mission with all these things she hasn’t heard about, and she doesn’t really know this girl. So I think there’s a healthy amount of excitement and flattery, but also skepticism of like, why should I trust you to send me on this mission?” Sinclair called the season her “favorite thing I’ve ever done,” noting it’s “the wildest thing ever” with shocking twists that “will leave your jaw on the floor.”

At San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and creative team shared more. Jaz Sinclair spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Marie’s development, saying Season 2 picks up immediately after the Season 1 finale and reveals how “Marie starts to really realize just how powerful she can be,” exploring new dimensions to her powers and identity.

According to TVInsider, Showrunner Michele Fazekas also confirmed a bold narrative shift—“there’s a time jump. And everyone starts in a completely different place… they’re in a place called Elmira,” hinting at a fresh emotional and physical landscape for the characters.

Maddie Phillips, as Cate, talked about her character’s arc: “Kate has, um, got some questionable new friends and has therefore had a little bit of a there’s some tension going on with her old friends.” She defended Cate’s choices, saying, “I think that everything that Kate does comes from a place of wanting love and acceptance. Um, she did not get that growing up.”

Hamish Linklater, the new Dean Cipher, joked about his role: “Yeah, I play Dean Cipher. That name should inspire a great deal of confidence in everyone. He’s the new Dean, and a lot has changed at Godolkin University since Season 1. We’re now in Homelander’s America, right? And he’s a Dean for that America.”

On honouring Chance Perdomo, Fazekas said, “It felt really important to do that… and I think the thing I’m most proud of when you watch the entirety of the season is uh he is there the whole way along in a way that doesn’t that that feels real because it is real.” The team banded together, making it a heartfelt tribute. These glimpses show how much heart and chaos went into production—I can’t wait to see it all unfold!
