The new Spanish-language teen sports drama series OLYMPO from Netflix goes deep into the lives of professional athletes and the pressures they face as they try to be the best. The drama takes place in the high-stakes world of a made-up high-performance center called Pirineos HPC. It shows the complicated lives of young athletes who are trying to reach their Olympic goals.
The show has eight episodes, and each one is about an hour long. It has a group of talented directors, such as Marçal Forès, Daniel Barone, Ibai Abad, and Ana Vásquez. Zeta Studios in Barcelona, which made the hit show Elite, is in charge of making Olympo, which aims to captivate viewers with its intense drama, complex characters, and real sports setting.
STORY OVERVIEW
At the heart of the series is Amaia Olaberria (played by Clara Galle), the determined and somewhat aloof captain of Spain’s synchronized swimming team. Her drive and determination make her both admirable and annoying to those around her, even her rugby-playing boyfriend Cristian Delallave (Nuno Gallego). Roque Pérez, Cristian’s teammate and played by Agustín Della Corte, faces personal problems and unexpected media attention because he is gay, which makes him a central character in the story.
Zoe Moral, played by Nira Oshaia, is a sprinter with a dark past who adds to the drama. Juan Lópex-Tagle, Alexandra Prokhorova, Melina Matthews, Mario de la Rosa, Marta Larralde, and Juan Perales complete the cast, which is very varied and lively.

The series takes a darker turn when strange events point to doping scandals and possible plots involving the mysterious sports brand Olympo. The story takes place in the tough and sometimes brutal world of Pirineos HPC.
WHERE WAS ‘OLYMPO’ FILMED?
Whats-on-Netflix says that Olympo was filmed mostly in Spain between August 5, 2024, and December 14, 2024, in both scenic and athletic settings. A lot of real-life locations were used by the production to make the show seem more real and give it a grounded, visual richness.
MADRID, SPAIN
Most of the filming took place in Madrid, Spain’s capital, which has long served as a favorite backdrop for international and domestic productions. In particular, the Estadio Municipal Santo Domingo in Alcorcón was a prominent location. Situated on Avenue de Esteban Márquez, this stadium is home to the Agrupación Deportiva Alcorcón football club. With room for about 5,100 people and a modern but cozy feel, it was perfect for filming sports scenes that show national-level competitions and team drama.
Because the stadium is easy to get to and has good infrastructure, complicated sports scenes could be filmed there. You can see some of these scenes in the trailer for the series. This kind of realistic setting helps to make it feel like a real high-performance sports training facility.
HUESCA, SPAIN – PANTICOSA
In addition to Madrid, Panticosa, a beautiful town in Huesca, Aragon, is also a big part of Olympo’s look. Because it is in the Pyrenees Mountains, this area made a beautiful background for many outdoor scenes. The area is famous for its spa resorts and mountain views. The high elevation adds to the series’ main theme of competitive isolation.
One of the most interesting landmarks is the Balneario de Panticosa, a high-end spa hotel 1636 meters above sea level surrounded by beautiful peaks. This place is probably the Pirineos HPC in Olympo, the made-up high-performance center where a lot of the story takes place. Clara Galle told La Revuelta that the actors trained physically, doing things like synchronized swimming and gymnastics, to get into character. This training was probably filmed in and around Panticosa.
The scenic beauty of Panticosa, with its Belle Époque architecture, ski resort Aramón Panticosa, and Pasarelas de Panticosa (hanging footbridges), adds a visually striking element to the show’s intense themes. The region not only grounds the story but elevates its emotional and visual stakes.
The carefully selected filming locations—from the vibrant urban sporting venues in Madrid to the serene, majestic mountain settings in Huesca—give Olympo a sense of realism and tension that reflects the athletes’ inner and outer struggles. The show’s commitment to using actual locations mirrors its dedication to presenting high-level sports with truth and drama.
