Alma And The Wolf (2025) Filming Locations Revealed

-

Alma and the Wolf is an American psychological horror mystery movie coming out in 2025. It was written by Abigail Miller and directed by Michael Patrick Jann. This scary story takes place in the scary, made-up Oregon town of Spiral Creek, which is a small, dark community that is shaken when a bloody man who says he survived an animal attack is found. As the news spreads that there is a wolf in the nearby woods, tensions rise, and Ethan Embry plays Deputy Ren Accord, who has to figure out if the danger is in nature or in something much darker. Ren’s own son goes missing, which makes the situation much more dangerous and forces him to look into a dark mystery that is becoming more and more like a mix of myth and reality.

Li Jun Li, Jeremie Harris, Lukas Jann, Kevin Allison, Mather Zickel, Beth Malone, Alexandra Doke, and Dana Millican are some of the talented actors in the movie. The plot puts viewers in a tense, isolated environment, and the real-life locations used for filming make the movie even more haunting.

WHERE WAS ALMA AND THE WOLF FILMED?

Principal photography for Alma and the Wolf began in early 2024—with Oregon as the primary filming location. The group chose the Pacific City area on the northern coast of the state because of its natural beauty—which was filled with fog and rough terrain, which helped them bring the made-up town of Spiral Creek to life.

PACIFIC CITY, OREGON

A lot of the movie was shot in Pacific City—a town on the coast in Tillamook County that is known for its tall sand dunes, dramatic cliffs, and quiet seclusion. The feeling of being alone and the raw beauty of nature in Spiral Creek came from this place. With its wild beaches and evergreen forests—Pacific City made for a beautiful setting that went well with the movie’s psychological tension.

SALMON RIVER ESTUARY AT CASCADE HEAD

The movie was shot a lot in and around the Salmon River estuary, which is close to Cascade Head, a famous coastal headland and ecological reserve. With its winding waters, tidal flats—and old-growth forest all around, the estuary was the perfect place for scenes with scary forest scenes and strange animal sightings.

The high elevation and thick vegetation of Cascade Head also let the cinematographer use natural lighting and shadow to make the movie feel even scarier. Scenes involving Ren’s investigation into missing persons and strange attacks reportedly used several trails and backroads in this area, lending a gritty realism to the otherwise surreal narrative.

CAMP MERIWETHER

According to local reports and the Tillamook Coast Visitors Association, the production was primarily based at Camp Meriwether, located slightly north of Pacific City and closer to Cape Lookout. During the month of February 2024, this Boy Scout camp— which is usually used for outdoor education and youth programs, was turned into a major filming location.

When they were filming at Camp Meriwether, the crew was able to build controlled outdoor sets that looked like the cabins in the woods and the buildings in the small town that were described in the script. It was close to both the ocean and the forest, which made it a great place for many important scenes, such as search parties, fights in the woods, and community panic. The Oregon Coast Beach Connection published a feature in late January 2024, noting the intrigue surrounding the shoot:

“It’s all very secret and maybe a little intriguing… We do know the film is being shot in and around Pacific City but mostly up at Camp Meriwether – a tad closer to Cape Lookout.”

This secrecy helped maintain the film’s mysterious aura during production and allowed filmmakers to shoot without major disruptions from the public or media.

Director Michael Patrick Jann offered subtle confirmations of the filming locations on social media. On January 11, 2024, he posted a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram showing crew members standing on an Oregon beach. The caption read:

“I am grateful both to be starting a new movie and for my commanding new work clothes. #almaandthewolf”

Though minimal, this post, coupled with visible coastal elements in the image, further confirmed that the Oregon coast played a central role in filming.

The visual identity of Alma and the Wolf is heavily shaped by the moody and often misty Oregon coastline. From the dunes of Pacific City to the dense wilderness of Cascade Head and the utilitarian base of Camp Meriwether, the chosen locations allowed the filmmakers to create a chilling yet immersive setting that reflects the psychological tension and creeping dread of the storyline.
